What to bring on a brand photoshoot

Are you ready to take the next step in your business and have some professional photographs taken of yourself? You might have been asked to provide an image of yourself for a magazine article and downloading it from your LinkedIn profile picture just won’t cut it. Read on to see why and how having professional images will make you feel good and make people want to work with you.

Read on because at the end there is a free PDF to help you plan your day and what you should bring with you on the day - apart from your biggest smile. Say money! You should say that instead of ‘say cheese’! Saying the word money whilst taking your picture gives a wider smile… try it!

When preparing for a brand photoshoot, there are several essential items you should bring with you to ensure the session goes smoothly and you look your best. Here's a list of items to bring on a photoshoot for personal branding:

1. Wardrobe Options: Bring a few outfit choices that reflect your personal style and brand image. Consider bringing both formal and casual attire to provide variety in your photos.

2. Accessories: Don't forget to bring accessories such as jewellery, scarves, hats, or other items that complement your outfits and help convey your brand.

3. Props: Depending on your profession or personal brand, consider bringing props that represent your work or professional interests. For example, if you're a chef, you might bring cooking utensils, or if you're a writer, bring a notebook or pen.

4. Grooming Kit: Bring any essentials you might need for touch-ups during the photo shoot, such as makeup, hair products, a brush or comb, and a lint roller - get that cat hair off your coat!

5. Snacks and Water: Photoshoots can be tiring, so bringing snacks and water to stay energised and hydrated is essential for a successful session.

6. Confidence and Positive Energy: Most importantly, bring your confidence and a positive attitude. Feeling good about yourself and radiating positive energy will shine through in your photos.

In addition to these items, make sure you have a positive mindset and are well-rested before the shoot. Lastly, don't forget to check the weather forecast and bring any additional items you may need based on the location and conditions of the shoot.

Remember to also check with your photographer if they have any specific recommendations for items to bring based on the shoot location and theme.

The tips above come from experience and photo shoots that I have had. Most of the images of me in this site are by Ayo Alaka - the ones in this blog are by Chantelle from vio.photomedia. Check them both out and their portfolios are on Instagram.
