New blog, new year, new brand

In December 2019 I decided I must update my brand.

In December 2020 I thought the same.

In December 2021, I started. Now it is March 2022 - I’m doing it now. I have taken some time off and I will dedicate serious time to it.

A quote from my Mum… “A shoemaker never has his own pair of shoes” Quote from Janet Murray… “How can a personal trainer train someone and not work out themselves?” A quote from me “How can a graphic designer who sells services as a designer does not have a brand look?” Hmmm I’ve asked myself this and after another busy year and not making time for my brand (as I have been full-on with clients ) I have decided I have to make a start.

In 2020 I really did not want to be online, most people were finding information about the dreaded coronavirus. I avoided online activity and whilst most people were talking to communities, doing zoom quizzes, making great connections. All I wanted to do was help with online schooling, finish my work and chill with my husband and children in the evening, not look at more screens. It was like I had a fear of looking at social media, but my husband hit the nail on the head – he said I am more of a people person (IRL) and I missed people. But roll on January 2021 and a friend (Sophie Cross) came to me with an idea. Let’s create a magazine for freelancers. Of course – I’m in!

So freelancer magazine launched in February 2021 and all of a sudden I’m talking to people on LinkedIn, Twitter was pinging, the Instagram followers went up. My Instagram account has tripled. I had 73 followers back then in January 2021 – I now have a 276, ooo no 275 nope now 277. It goes up and down – still trying to figure all of it out. But what I’m trying to say is people have been lovely and I’m glad I have become part of communities.

My aim for 2022 (yes, making myself accountable) is to create my brand, logo, redo my website and be more present online and more involved in communities. Because I am a people person and I love meeting new people. Come say hello - It would be great to hear from you.

Now I’m off to get those new shoes Mum!
