Don’t design your logo using Canva...

… supplied logos if you want something unique.

I wonder if that headline got your attention.

Anyone can be a designer by using Canva.

I admire the Canva company ethic as they offer a free version to all – including schools. They provide a design tool to the masses - even at an early age.

Yet, I know a few designers who will never ever touch it, which is fair enough.

But please try not to use the logos supplied in Canva for your business. Why? Because you and 50 gazillion other people will have it. I have seen the same logos on a few different businesses with colours changed. It is not unique to your business. If you can invest in a crafted brand unique to you - do.

Another reason not to use a DIY logo is to imagine your business taking off and you decide to trademark your logo. You can’t as there will be similar out there but more importantly, you can’t as the rights will belong to Canva. See their T’s & C’s.

Hire a professional designer to create your brand. You can transfer your colours, fonts and logo to Canva after you have this in place. Then you can go wild and create your own graphics. I use it for social media posts and for clients who require branded templates.

So take time to research, think about your brand and how you want the world to see you.
