Reasons you shouldn’t work with me.

Let’s be honest.

What? You are most probably wondering why I’m writing this. But stick around. It is not a long read and it might help you.

Are you looking to work with a freelance graphic designer?

Maybe you’re wanting a logo, a website or a magazine and you need some support to get there.

If that’s the case, a graphic designer could help.

I’ve created designs that have helped many clients over the years.

But, my services might NOT be the right fit for you.

I know that might surprise you, after all, shouldn’t we be selling our service to anyone and everyone?

I don’t feel comfortable doing that because the truth is, I’m not 100% right for everyone.

My design packages can only be successful if I work with the right people with the right mindset, and this is why I decided to write this article.

Below I’ve broken down the 5 main reasons you might NOT see success in achieving your unique brand.

I’ve also explained what you can do instead that will help you get better results if you do end up working with me in the future.

5 reasons that you should not work with me.

1. You don’t have the time to give me feedback
I will need time from you to give me feedback. This makes sure that your content is the best it can be, and also that we make sure the designs are going along the right track!
If this isn’t going to be possible, I’d rather wait until you have the time in your schedule to give me feedback.

Please respect my time as I respect yours. Part of my client introduction and onboarding process is about feedback. I will ask questions on a form which will hopefully start us off in the right direction.

2. You don’t have the budget
You can see from my services page that I’m not the cheapest or the most expensive designer out there. My prices are based on industry figures and I have been in the business for over 20 years. I offer design and production solutions gained from years of experience and from different company situations. I have worked in design agencies, charities, publishing houses, asset management and banking institutions.

Recently I took a call from someone who wanted a poster designed. After a few questions from me and a better understanding of his project. I knew he had no money. I could have quoted but I have integrity – one of my brand values is kindness. I pointed him in the direction of Canva but said to keep in touch. He was a nice person – so am I!

When you are ready to start with your design project and have the budget we can take a call and work out the next steps.

3. You expect me to trade my time for free experience with your company
As mentioned above I have been a designer for 20 years and freelancing for 11 years. I do not work for free. Past clients have been start-ups, freelancers and corporate clients. They respect me and pay for my time. If you would like us to work together I am more than happy to give you a quote for your project.

4. You expect me to start a project without a clear brief
I won’t want to waste your time if we don’t have a brief and we end up second-guessing what we are supposed to be working on. A clear brief and it can be a simple document/email will require your time to provide it to me.

5. You want to work with a big agency
I am a business of one but I work with support. I work with copywriters, proofreaders, editors, artworkers and virtual assistants. I do have a team of freelancers and we come together to produce the best outcome for my clients. If NDAs are involved I will work solely on the project, unless otherwise agreed.

What’s next for you?
So there you have it, those are the main reasons you shouldn’t work with me.

It’s important you understand what they are so you can decide if I’m the right fit for you.

Although this article might seem a bit blunt, it comes from a place of wanting to help you make the right choice and help you avoid wasting time and money.

If I sound like a good fit for you, why not book a 20-minute call with me and find out more.
